JASON WATSON, LPC  

​Jason Watson is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  He received his Master’s of Education in Counseling from Auburn University Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama.  His trainings include: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  His counseling background includes working with addictions and community mental health.  He doesn’t believe in a one size fits all approach to counseling.  Jason believe’s in taking the time and learning what approach works best for each individual client.  Using traditional treatments and as well as new and scientifically proven techniques, Jason helps guide each client to the whole self each person is seeking.  His interests include helping adults and teenagers who are struggling with depression, anxiety, life adjustment issues, relationship problems, from of original concerns, LGBT issues, men's issues, individuals in recovery, trauma, PTSD, faith based and personal growth.  One of his family quotes that helps guide his therapy is “I am not what has happened to me… I am what I choose to become.” -Carl Jung.

 

JENNIFER HEIFNER, LPC 

​Jennifer has achieved her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Pacific Lutheran University and her Masters of Arts in Counseling and Guidance for Texas A&M San Antonio. Jennifer has been serving the mental health field for 8 years. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern in Texas, Jennifer has worked with families as in the foster and adoption community, as well as, with children and adolescents, between the ages 3 – 18 years old, helping them overcome anger issues, improve communication skills, add new an healthy coping skills, build healthy relationships with peers, siblings, and parents, and improve social skills.  Jennifer also has experience with working with individuals with substance abuse and addiction issues and coaching them through their early recovery for sustained sobriety. Jennifer is a mother of two children and also understands how counseling issues affect families and can provide systemic support to children and families seeking support. Jennifer enjoys outdoor activities, as well as reading, and spending time with family and friends. Jennifer is passionate about helping individuals and families achieve their goals. Jennifer practices at our North Central San Antonio.

*LILIANA JERNIGAN, LPC

 

Liliana earned her Master’s degree in Community Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio. She gained her experience working as a counselor at a children’s emergency shelter. Liliana is passionate about supporting the emotional health of young children, pre-teens and teenagers who are going through a transition in life, have endured trauma, or are struggling in their lives at home or school.  Her calm, genuine and playful presence helps clients feel safe and motivated to work through life’s challenges and build the skills required to be successful in life. Aside from working with youth, she has experience in working with individuals, couples and families who are experiencing depression, anxiety, loss/grieve, and individuals affected by chronic illness.  Liliana believes that everyone deserves a support system and the opportunity to live a happy and fulfilled life.  When she is away from the office, she is exercising at the gym, reading a book, or taking her two dogs to the park. Liliana practices at our North Central San Antonio and Northwest San Antonio location and has daytime and evening availability.

Liliana obtuvo su Maestría en Consejería Comunitaria de la Universidad de Texas en San Antonio. Ella ganó su experiencia trabajando como consejera de salud mental en un refugio de emergencia para niños. Liliana es apasionada en apoyar la salud emocional de los niños pequeños, preadolescentes y adolescentes que atraviesan por una transición en la vida, han sufrido un trauma o tienen dificultades en sus vidas en el hogar o la escuela. Su presencia tranquila, genuina y alegre ayuda a los clientes a sentirse seguros y motivados para superar los desafíos de la vida y desarrollar las habilidades necesarias para tener éxito en la vida. Además de trabajar con jóvenes, tiene experiencia trabajando con adultos, parejas y familias que sufren depresión, ansiedad, pérdida / duelo y personas afectadas por enfermedades crónicas. PHYLLIS WELLS, LPC

 

Phyllis earned her Masters of Education in Counseling from The University of Houston and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has been counseling since 2001 in public schools and in non-profit settings.  She is a Certified Theraplay® Practitioner and incorporates Theraplay in family therapy for enhancing attachment, self-esteem, and trust. This has been helpful for children who are withdrawn, depressed, overactive or aggressive, on the autism spectrum, and those who may be afraid of relating because of adoption, losses, or trauma. Additionally, Phyllis is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Sandtray Therapy.  She is also pursuing the Registered Play Therapist Credential.  Her experience is with children (as young as 2), adolescents, adults, and couples working on issues relating to attachment, adoption, foster care, trauma, grief, blended families and parenting.  Phyllis believes in not just treating symptoms but in connecting with clients to help them navigate challenges with new tools and hope. As a recent transplant from Houston she is enjoying her new hill country home near grandchildren. Phyllis practices at our North Central San Antonio location and has daytime availability.

 

ASHLEY VILLARREAL, LPC

 

Ashley received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Angelo State University in 2011 and obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling at University of Texas at San Antonio, in May 2014. Her professional experience includes helping children and adolescents reduce and cope with anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, aggression, impulse control and family matters. Ashley also has experience in helping clients improve their daily living skills, social skills, self-esteem, boundaries and helping parents improve their parenting skills. Her gentle approach allows her to provide a safe environment for her clients to find peace from within. In her free time, you can find Ashley enjoying family and friends, running, reading a book or cuddling with her cats. Ashley practices at our North Central San Antonio and Northwest San Antonio location and has evening availability. 

HALEE SMITH, LMFT

 

Halee attended Abilene Christian University where she earned her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2014. Her specialties include child and adolescent therapy (ages 3-18), couples therapy, family therapy, and individual therapy. She has acquired experience helping clients reduce and cope with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and any other mental health concerns, enhance self-esteem, adjust to significant life changes, helping families adjust and cope with family transitions, improve parenting skills, overcome histories of trauma and abuse, and problems relation to substance/alcohol abuse. Additionally, Halee is trained in facilitating and utilizing the Prepare/Enrich material in pre-marital counseling and helps couples identify their strengths in their relationship and develop strong marriage. Halee practices at our North Central San Antonio location and has daytime and evening availability.

 

LORI JOHNSON, Graduate Student Intern Supervised by Faith K. Ray, LMFT-S 

 

I am a wife of 33 years, a mother of 3 grown children, a daughter of one living parent, a

Licensed Davis Facilitator who has worked with gifted individuals with learning

differences for 13 years. I have a Psychology degree from Schreiner University, and I

am currently a graduate student in Marriage and Family Therapy through Abilene

Christian University in Dallas, Texas. My Passion for Marriage and Family Therapy

comes from my faith in Jesus Christ and my deep belief in the redemptive and

restorative work available to us and our relationships. As a fellow sojourner, I will take a

collaborative approach to our partnership where you, the consumer, are the expert on

your own life’s journey. We will work together to clarify your goals that will help you

create a meaningful life. We will identify and affirm your strengths and resources that

will support the fulfillment of your goals and identify the parts of your relational story that

MICHELLE FARREY, LPC & LMFT

 

Michelle is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She

received her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. She is passionate about couples, family and marriage therapy. She has experience in working with school-aged children 6-18 and adults with behavior issues, anxiety, depression, sexual identity, grief, and trauma. Michelle has gained knowledge working with active duty military experiencing combat trauma, non-combat trauma, and military sexual trauma. As an Air Force Veteran, a military spouse and mother of two she has extensive knowledge of the unique situations that arise within the military family and parenting. Michelle believes our family of origin can greatly affect how we manage daily challenges. During her free time, she enjoys walking, hiking, Zumba classes, spending time with her spouse of 25 years and traveling. Michelle believes that life is a mosaic and that all of our life experiences helps shape us into the person we are, her motto for therapy is: ‘give a man a fish he’ll eat or a day, teach him how to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime’. She understands the importance of mental, physical and spiritual health and encourages clients to find their unique balance. Michelle practices at our North Central San Antonio and Northwest San Antonio location and has daytime and evening availability.

STEPHANIE DZIUK, LPC

 

Stephanie is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  Stephanie graduated from The University of the Incarnate Word with her Bachelors in Psychology in 2007 and went on to get her Masters in Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2011.  Prior to starting work in the counseling field, Stephanie worked in preschools for over 7 years. As a counselor, Stephanie has experience working with young children, adolescents, and adult populations.  Stephanie has worked work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, grief, Bipolar Disorders, Mood Disorders, Psychotic Disorders such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.  She is comfortable with faith-based counseling and has experience with Christianity and Judaism.  Stephanie will be practicing at our North Central San Antonio location.

 

 

GENEVIEVE COMPEAN, LPC

Genevieve was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2010, her Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Guidance from Texas A&M University-San Antonio in 2014, and she became a fully Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Texas in January 2019. She has practiced counseling in several settings since her internship began in 2017. Her background includes helping children and adolescents (ages 5-18) learn how to process and cope with various types of trauma such as family separation, abuse, pregnancy, and anxiety. In addition, she has gained counseling experience working with adults and couples who are affected by work-related stress, financial stress, relationship stress, anxiety, grief, and depression. In her downtime, Genevieve loves to spend time with her family, fur babies, and friends. She enjoys exercising, traveling, and crafting in her spare time. Genevieve practices at the Westwood Loop San Antonio location and has evening availability.

 

 

SYDNEY CHAMNESS, LPC

 

Sydney is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She attended McMurry University in Abilene, Texas where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2011. She then received her Masters in Counseling at The University of Texas at San Antonio in December of 2013. Sydney has gained experience incorporating her Christian values with her counseling skills and helping children and adolescents overcome issues of trauma, self-harm, suicidal ideations, sexual and physical abuse, neglect, aggression, and issues in the school setting. Sydney provides play therapy services, as well as, support to children and teens and their parents.

As a faith-based counselor, Sydney believes that healing starts with building a genuine connection with her clients and helping her clients realize their God given potential and purpose in life. In her free-time, you can find Sydney laughing with friends, attending church, working out, or reading a book. Sydney practices at our North Central San Antonio location and has daytime and evening availability.

*SHANNON ZORN, LMFT

Victoria, Texas Location Only

 

Originally from Florida, Shannon spent her childhood in New Orleans,  In 2010, she moved to San Antonio, TX to pursue her career as a therapist. She received her master’s in marriage & family therapy with a concentration in play therapy from St. Mary’s University in 2012 and is currently pursuing her doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is bilingual in Spanish and has a wealth of experience working with children and parents as she pursues the Registered Play Therapist credential. Her other areas of expertise and specialty are Twogether in Texaspre-marital counseling, Gottman Method-focused couples/marriage counseling, family therapy, issues of domestic violence, and using play (child centered and sandtray) in therapy for ages 2-12). During her leisure time, shannon enjoys watching movies, trying new ethnic cuisines, traveling, and playing with beloved puppy. Shannon practices at our Victoria, Texas location and has daytime and evening availability
