Shelby is a native to the Victoria area as she grew up in Edna. She is a Licensed Professional Counseling- Associate who earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston- Victoria. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas State University. Prior to working in the counseling field, Shelby worked in education as an elementary school teacher. She has spent time working as an Education and Outreach Coordinator at Hope Child Advocacy Center providing education for the community on signs and awareness of child abuse. Shelby also spent time at Hope Child Advocacy Center working as a clinician providing trauma focused treatment.
Shelby has experience working with children ages 3+ and families who have experienced situations causing trauma which may include anxiety, depression, or PTSD. Shelby is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI). Her focus is aimed to provide necessary tools to help children and families overcome the symptoms associated with trauma so that continued healthy development and growth can occur. Shelby looks forward to working with different populations and continuing to learn and grow in various treatment modalities.
Outside of work Shelby enjoys spending time with her puppy, husband, and family. She enjoys being outside, reading, and crafting as self-care hobbies. Shelby will be practicing in the Victoria office.
